Happy Monday lovelies!

Hands up, who has ever experienced Mondayitis?

I have definitely felt that unmistakable dread when I’ve woken up on a Monday morning. Back to work, back to school, back to reality after two days of freedom and fun.

But this year I decided that I was going to change my attitude towards the beginning of the week.

I now look at Monday morning as a symbol of possibility and opportunity.

It’s a fresh start, a time to embrace better habits, and face new and exciting challenges.

Positively re-framing the idea of Monday has helped me to appreciate new beginnings and enjoy the rest of my week. I figure that there is no point wishing Monday away, when I can embrace it instead! I really believe that if you can start your week on a positive note, the rest of the week feels so much more manageable.

Banishing Mondayitis

From now on, every Monday I will post tips and tricks to help ease your Mondayitis. Today I want to talk about gratitude.

Being grateful is one of the quickest ways to happiness.

The Wall Street Journal reported that “Adults who frequently feel grateful have more energy, more optimism, more social connections and more happiness than those who do not”, and this is supported by hundreds of scientific studies into the gratitude/happiness connection.

With this in mind, and in celebration of the first day of the week, I wanted to share with you some of the things that I am most grateful for today.

5 Things That Bring Sunshine Into My Life:

My kids

This is an obvious one, but my boys really are the joy and light of my life. They make me laugh every day, and my life would be incredibly boring without them in it.

Lots and lots of tea. I’m currently sipping on a green tea blend from T2, sweetened with a little bit of honey. Delish!

My friends

Right now, all my beautiful friends are having amazing experiences (holidays, new relationships, new jobs, and overseas adventures – all the good stuff) and seeing them happy makes me happy too!

Books, books, books

I am currently reading the first book in The Hunger Games series. Yes, I know, I’m a few years late with this one, but nonetheless I am loving it. Usually when I read fiction, I’m more of a chick-lit kind of gal, so I’m actually a bit surprised that I’m enjoying it so much.

I’m also reading a few non-fiction books. I have an annoying habit of reading more than one book at a time. It can be confusing sometimes, but I like having lots of choice, and not being stuck reading the same thing every day.

My current non-fiction reads are Replenish: Experience Radiant Calm and True Vitality in Your Everyday Life by Lisa Grace Byrne, and Say Goodbye to Survival Mode: 9 Simple Strategies to Stress Less, Sleep More, and Restore Your Passion for Life by Crystal Paine. Both are really informative, and perfect reading for mums who are looking for more balance and less stress in their lives.

My husband Zane

He is currently cooking dinner so that I can have time to write and catch up on study. What a gem!

I hope you enjoyed your Monday as much as I did. If the Mondayitis bug hit you this week, hopefully next week you can try to embrace the possibility and opportunity that comes with a brand new week.
